Why Are We So Unhealthy?

The old adage "there are many roads to Rome" certainly applies to your health.
If you are not feeling at your peak of health it may be because of the choices you are making in many areas of your life.

You are faced with situations each day that impact your total health picture, some you have control over, some you do not. You truly are the sum of your parts. Each and every cell of your body has a memory of it's own and is shared by the collective of cells produced in your body. This cellular information is passed on from generation to generation until you have arrived at where you are today. Even though you may have forgotten what you did 5 years ago your body did not. Yikes!

So where are you now?

"Oh my back hurts, I'm tired, depressed, my hands hurt from arthritis, can't sleep, I take so much medication I think I will gag." Sound familiar? What you don't realize is maybe with a few small steps you can change the way you are feeling in a major way. You can get your health back.

So why are we so unhealthy?

  • Too many bad foods
  • Not enough good foods
  • Not drinking enough water
  • Lack of exercise
  • Stressful lifestyle
  • Environmental factors
  • Sleep Deprivation

You might be saying what about genetics? My mom and dad they had diabetes so I will have diabetes too. Right? Not necessarily so. The highest percentage of an illness accounting from genetics (even cancer) is 30%.

This 30% counts if you live your life just like your relatives.
Did they smoke? Do you?
Did they make too many poor food choices? Do you?
Were they couch potatoes? Are you?

Consider this, what about the other 70%? The 70% is how you live your life every day. This is why the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association and all the rest of the government agencies recommends making lifestyle changes. You know focus on prevention: sleep more, exercise more, drink more water, eat more fruits and vegetables.

You get to choose how you spend that 70%.

What do you choose?
