Challenge Yourself to Get Healthy - It’s a Win Win
Living a healthier life not only affects you, it affects those around you too. When you're healthy you wake up refreshed ready to go to work, filled with energy you become more productive, fully awake after work ready to have fun with the family, and sleep soundly at night waking up the next day in a good mood.
If this is not you, then you might want to “challenge” yourself to get healthy. By setting weekly goals, and rewarding yourself for winning, you will be well on your way to the healthy lifestyle you have been seeking.
Wait. I bet you're thinking living healthier lifestyle costs money. That may or may not be true; there are lots of opinions about this however we do know being healthy saves you money. Where? Fewer doctor visits, sick days, medications just to name a few of the expenses that come along with poor health. Maybe spending little money up front will save you a lot of money later. When it comes to your health, it’s really a pay now or pay later program. Maybe you already are having this experience.
Looking for some help?
Maybe where you work there is a worksite wellness or corporate wellness program you can participate in. If not you can make your own wellness program, ask some of your co - workers to join in with fitness at work and health eating with health challenges and challenge yourself to get healthier!
You can do this by yourself however it’s easier in a group. Gather some of your friends, or work buddies to create a team. A team creates group support; that’s why groups like Weight Watchers are so successful. The group members have each other to lean on, besides everything is more fun in a group!
Wondering what a challenge would be? They would be specific and measurable goals with a time frame such as walk 10,000 steps each day, drink 8 glasses of water each day, eat 1 fruit each day for 2 meals and take a 5 minute break for each 60 minutes of work. Rewarding yourself for achieving you goals is important too. Rewards can be as small as time to yourself without the kids, with the kids, a nice hot bath, trip to the gym, or out with some friends. Or as big as a nice gift, spa treatment or shopping trip for yourself.
Can’t get that group together or keep them motivated? Connect with a community wellness challenge in your area, they.re generally low cost and increase your chances of making lasting healthy lifestyle changes by 50 – 60%.
In our area this spring there will be a Northern Indiana Kenko Community Challenge brought by C2 Your Health LLC. So if you’re in the area, make a team and join the fun for 9 weeks to a healthier you. Not in the area? That's ok you can join too!
