National Apple Month That's a Cause to Celebrate


When I think of October I think of the changing of the leaves, cool weather, Halloween candy and apple picking. Who knew it was National Apple Month too? So I did a little research and came up with the US Apple Association who is committed to this time honored fruit.  After exploring their website I have a new appreciation of the health benefits of this old fashion and unassuming fruit maybe you will too. 

You may be surprised to know the latest scientific research results demonstrates a link between apples and weight loss, brain health (including Alzheimer’s disease), certain forms of cancer, lung and heart health and stroke.

Apples are an excellent source of dietary fiber. In addition, apples are also a healthy source of antioxidants, which have been linked to disease prevention. Here is a quick abbreviated list of what is listed on the Health Benefits Research Summary hosted on the website.

✔️Weight loss: Women who ate 3 apples a day lost more weight than those who did not.
